The Forests’ Chorus: Mhaka Kiteak Podla?
I know you live in the cities,
far away from the forests,
It's not your home that gets mussed,
not your livelihood that will get crushed,
Is that why you say:
Mhaka kiteak podla?
From school, college and University,
You've been taught of foodchains, ecosystem and Biodiversity,
You know it all and yet,
How can you say:
Mhaka kiteak podla?
Sure, I'm pretty for your Instagram pictures,
But am I not good enough for your hearts' fixtures?
Is that why you say:
Mhaka kiteak podla?
I know you found peace in my serenity,
I took away your stress, gave you therapy,
But all you left me with, was your garbage for company,
no empathy,
Is that why you say:
Mhaka kiteak podla?
The government is not listening,
We've had enough of deceiving,
Your history of freedom fighting
and protesting, needs a bit of revisiting,
Your frustration should be exhibiting,
Your own ministers who should have been protecting,
How dare they have this thinking:
Mhaka kiteak podla?
Just this once, our susegad has got to stop,
We can't let our protests flop,
Can't let coal set up shop,
They'll have to let the projects drop.
Before my greens go up in smoke,
Before your lungs have to choke,
And your taps go broke
Please let go of your cloak:
Mhaka kiteak podla?
You need to act now or you'll watch me fall,
A voice, a protest, an act however small,
Plays a part in saving it all,
It's your land and it has to be your call,
Then how dare you let them droll:
Mhaka kiteak podla?

Immaculate Mary
The most Blessed Virgin Mary was, from the first moment of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of almighty God and by virtue of the merits of Jesus Christ, Savior of the human race, preserved immune from all stain of original sin." (Pius IX, Ineffabilis Deus, 1854.)
